Welcome to The Atheist Response Wiki
Introduction to the Atheist Response Project
I am an atheist. I get people knocking on my door all the time, and they want me to believe in God, specifically their god. I live around the corner from a Jehovah's Witness Hall, and the place where all the American LDS kids stay when they come to town is about 1/2 a mile away. The people who knock on my door usually have stuff they want me to read. I have been working on and off for a couple of years on an atheist response to their literature... something for them to take away, that they might stick in their bag and forget about only to find later and read. The result so far is a booklet called How to Make Me Believe in God.
I have worked on this project for a long time, and there are parts of my little booklet that I think are pretty damned good. However, I know that it isn't perfect, and to make it as good as possible, I need your help. Currently the booklet is about 9,000 words (I am well aware that this may be to much, that is one of the things I need help with.) The full contents of the booklet are posted on this wiki for you to shape, change, and improve. As the booklet gets better and better, my intention is occasionally reformat the whole thing into a word file that anyone can download, print out as a A4 bi-fold booklet, and give to the proselytizers that come to the door.
OK. There is a lot of work to do, but I am excited and energised by the prospect of everyone helping. Please start by reading the Guiding Principles page and the Overview and Outline page before you edit, and please make sure you add your ideas for discussion on the discussion pages.
